My Strange World. Issue 10

"Black and white is abstract, color is not. Looking at a black and white photograph you are already looking at a strange world." Joel Sternfeld

In the hours before dawn, I often wander the village and Hudson River alone, finding a 'other world' all to myself. I suppose the happy solitude of these hours were the spark to my new life as a photographer. Humans silenced, I hear an awakening bird cry out in the darkness. A deer or fox cross my darkened path. All is shadow, pierced by light. I find it both haunting and comforting, a Twilight Zone episode with a happy ending.

On this particular morning, I returned to Parelli Park, a small riverside beach, drawn by the lights of the marinas and distant Tappan Zee. Black and white seems to further distort any sense of reality, bringing you into my "strange world".

I know exactly the feeling you are describing, you have described it so well. Rod Serling would be honored.
